You know the scene: the little ones keep nagging you to take a take a picture on holiday. You foresee the danger of them dropping the expensive family camera, but you want then to feel like they are contributing to the family photo album too.
Enter the Kidizoom Digital Camera from VTech. Right off the bat, the name is misleading. This camera does not have a zoom feature at all! Furthermore, the quality of the photos isn’t exactly crisp ( you’ll get .3 megapixels, 640×480, with a 1.8″ color screen); not exactly great quality, but the kid-friendly software that comes with the camera will offer loads of entertainment for the wee ones, and let’s face it- its the action of taking th picture they really want in the first place.
Whats more, there is a video feature. Like the stills, you won’t have the best quality, with a resolution of 160×120 at 11 frames per second, but again, it’ll do the trick to let your little photog enjoy the experience.
What we love is the child-size buttons on the interface and extra face plate that can be switched out to create a “new” look to the camera. Best of all? The rubber grips that make it easy for little fingers to hold on to. The Kidizoom Digital Camera will set you back about $60. Not recommended for use with an Apple computer.
